Ledaig is the name for peated whisky distilled at Tobermory on the Isle of Mull. It's not pronounced 'lead ayg' or 'le daig' but something a bit like 'led chig' but with a very soft 'd'. Now you can wow your friends with your expert whisky pronunciation.
This is an unusual bottling as most red wine cask whiskies are just finishes, whereas this particular number was fully aged in European oak casks that previously held red wine from Bordeaux. It's bottled at cask strength, 56.8% ABV.
Sweet tawny Port-like notes on the nose with sea breeze and bonfires.
Full and spicy with black pepper, ginger and black cherries, with lingering smoke and cured meats.
Long salty finish with sweet fruits lingering.
Incredible dram, my current go to that truly feels like syrup going down. Be warned the bottle will empty quickly.
