A stunning Ledaig bottled in July of 2013 at a natural cask strength of 61.90%. It’s only been in the cask for 7 years but you wouldn't know it if you tasted this one blind because it's just great – it hits you with peaty deliciousness, then delivers oats and brown sugar, like the world’s best ever porridge. In fact, I’ve got some oats and milk here, let me just try something…
Only 233 bottles of this little cracker came out of the cask, if you like rich, peaty drams then grab one now before everyone else does.
Pow! Peat, Tarmac, Oatcakes and seaweed. Iodine and (just a touch of) sticking plaster.
Hugely sweet, rich peaty goodness. Nothing really gets a look-in beyond brown sugar, peat, barley and oats. Marvellously rich peaty porridge.
Rounds out, becomes ever more palate-coating and cereal-rich. Top banana.
Who said the best peaty whiskies are old, or from Islay (or both)? This is an astonishing dram whose beastly richness belies its age.
Lovely sweet cereal aromas with a decent slab of peat on the side. Warm, citrusy finish. Ideal breakfast whisky.
