Ledaig 21 Year Old 1997 (cask 13341) - Xtra Old Particular (Douglas Laing)
Another excellent release from the Xtra Old Particular range - this time, it's a 21 year old Ledaig single malt, so get ready for a peaty treat. Tobermory distilled this whisky on the Isle of Mull back in July 1997 and left it to age in a single refill hogshead until May 2019, when it was bottled with an outturn of only 260 bottles by Douglas Laing.
Tasting Note by The Producer
Nose
The nose is massively smoked initially then comes a leathery quality with smoked meats and iodine.
Palate
The palate shows the same delicious smokiness - streaky bacon, peated barley and fire embers
Finish
The finish brings a subtle sweetness (burnt brown sugar) with the same big, peated quality that just goes on and on and on.
