Sutherland 19 Year Old 2000 (Thompson Bros.)
This 19 year old single malt from an undisclosed distillery was released by the Thompson Bros. to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Dornoch Castle Whisky Bar - we can't think of a better excuse for fab independently bottled whisky! It was distilled in the year 2000, though the distillery remains a mystery. Perhaps the name holds a secret...? 462 bottles were released.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Floral barley and waxy green apple peels, followed by black tea spiciness and gingerbread.
Palate
Salted butter on toasted teacakes, toasted sesame seeds and some grilled pineapple.
Finish
Biscuity and enjoyably sweet, though some clove and cinnamon keeps things spicy.
