The Thompson Bros. are back with a second batch of bargainous brilliance with this blended malt Scotch whisky from the northern Highlands. Distilled in 2016, the whisky for the blend was ethically sourced from two local producers who operate within a 39.8 mile radius of the Thompson Bros. home at the Dornoch Distillery – Clynelish and Glen Ord. Both distilleries employ traditional crop rotation methods, use sustainable biofuels and use less water than many others. The blend (made up of 50.1% Glen Ord and 49.9% Clynelish) was married and slowly brought down to strength in a very, very freshly emptied refill sherry butt ensuring heaps of sweet stone fruit character throughout.
Heaps of fresh peach, floral notes of lychee, a touch of chalky flint, and honeyed sourdough are backed by flaky sultana pastries, a touch of banana, and oily, waxy malt.
More of that sweet peach and stone fruit character, with candied pineapple and milk bottle sweeties in tow. Silky layers of vanilla cream cushion a sprinkle of savoury spice.
Vanilla shortbread, candle wax, a touch of tangy citrus, and pepper.

A 50/50 blend of Glen Ord and Clynelish malt whiskies that are a delight to drink. Paul and Simon Thompson understand the underlying science of blending and just look at their cheeky label which reflects the Tesco Value image. The bottle packs a punch, it is delish! it will suit young and old. You could add ice or use it as a base for cocktails however I just add a few drops of water to bring out the nose. If yer skint go for it man! It's a stotter as they say in Glasgow!
