Dornoch 4 Year Old 2018 (Thompson Bros.)
Distilled in January 2018, it's a rather exciting release from the Thompson Bros. home at the Dornoch Distillery! This single malt, distilled from organic plumage archer barley, spent four years resting in a single ex-bourbon cask, which yielded an outturn of 178 bottles when it was opened in 2022.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Vanilla fudge, baked apples, and dark chocolate with candied ginger. A touch of chalky grist beneath.
Palate
Juicy barley leads with sweet, candied nuts and baking spices. Burnt sugar, buttered tea loaf, and fresh vanilla pod linger.
Finish
Buttery malt and toasted oak reside beside more earthy notes of clove and peppered plum.
