Islay 8 Year Old 2008 (The Whisky Agency)
Peated single malt Scotch whiskies from an undisclosed distillery always provoke intrigue, and this edition should be no different. It was distilled in 2008 and aged in a single hogshead until it was bottled in 2016 by The Whisky Agency.
The label is particularly distinctive and features a very jolly man seemingly delighted about his transformation into a peacock. Or maybe it's the other way around? It's a bit like the covers to the 'Animorphs' series of children's books.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
A refreshing coastal spray tempers the smoke and sulphur in the backdrop of the nose, which freshly cut cedar spiciness and lemon zest complement.
Palate
Potent and powerful peat percolates through prickles of pepper. Smoky peanut shells offer an interesting savoury note underneath vegetal tones and some sweet vanilla.
Finish
Very gentle beeswax and sweet citric dryness are present in a medium length finish.
