Skara Brae 16 Year Old 2005 (cask 22) - The Cooper's Choice (The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.)
The folks at The Vintage Malt Whisky Co. got their hands on a marvellous cask of single malt here, but they've kept the name of the distillery a secret... What we do know is that it was distilled on Orkney in 2005, which we suppose might help to narrow things down a little, if you're planning on being a whisky Columbo? After maturing for 16 years in a single bourbon cask, the whisky was released as part of The Cooper's Choice collection, with a total outturn of 360 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Heather honey, gentle smoke, a touch of zesty citrus, and rolled oats.
Palate
Bold malt, oaty biscuits, spiced oranges with distant sea breeze and soft smoke.
Finish
Coastal salinity continues, alongside dried citrus peels, cloves, and anise, with fading smoke on the end.
