Family Silver 38 Year Old 1984 (cask VMW51 ) - The Cooper's Choice (The Vintage Malt Whisky Co.)
A brilliant blended Scotch whisky from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co., bringing together a symphony of 15 single malts and three single grains, inlcuding spirits from the Balblair, Blair Athol, Glen Garioch, Linkwood, Mortlach, and Cambus distilleries. It spent just shy of four decades in a first-fill ex-Oloroso sherry cask, which yielded 408 bottles at 40.5% for The Cooper's Choice series.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Cigar box alongside fresh tobacco, warming spices, plum skin, and kitchen herbs.
Palate
Singed rosemary, old leather, and aromatic smoke, with more red fruit from the cask.
Finish
Stewed cherry, and very gentle oak spice, with wafts of bonfire smoke lingering.
