The Sassenach is the first whisky launched by Sam Heughan (who you may know as the actor who plays Jamie Fraser on hit sci-fi TV show Outlander), inspired by picturesque Highland landscapes. Expect waves of butterscotch, fresh citrus and warming spices from this tasty blended Scotch whisky.
Fresh apricot and orange, with a drizzle of caramel and a slow build of cinnamon.
Waves of honey and vanilla fudge, dotted with raisin, almond and another helping of cinnamon spiciness.
Lasting nutmeg, citrus oils and toffee.

Having never drunk whisky before I was pleasantly surprised. Smooth and delicious.
It actually is very tasty, mellow and smooth. One smells and tastes vanilla but it's also kind of refreshing. I could nose and drink it the whole evening. Although I do not dare to, because it's very difficult and expensive to get a bottle of it. Considering the fact, that it's not a Single Malt - it still has become pretty perfect!! One can taste the fine art work put into the creation of this marvellous blended whisky. Congratulations!
I'm not a drinker for health reasons but had to go out on a limb and buy The Sassanach. I tried an 80 proof at my daughter's at Xmas. It barely tasted like alcohol. Finally got my whisky early January. At 46%, it definitely tastes like alcohol. Have learned to enjoy the fruitiness in the smell and taste. Getting near the bottom but I don't want to open the commemorative boxed bottle. August seems like so far away for the next shipment. I still need to buy an actual whisky glass!
As an Irish whiskey man myself (see, I put the ‘e’ in), I wasn’t really a fan of scotch, never mind blended. I was bought this as a present, as the mrs is a fan of Outlander and I nearly told her to send it back. I read some reviews which made me feel a little better. Then I tasted this ‘blended’ whisky (now I have took away the ‘e’, I am learning…), and it’s sad nothing like I expected. It’s very smooth, hints of citrus and toffee on the nose, and spice on the taste. nice on the rocks, on its own, or with a tad of water. You can taste the peat, but it’s not overpowering with smoke. This was my first bottle, now I am onto my third. Superb whisky, bit pricey, but a very good dram..
