Single Malt
Kagoshima
Mars Whisky
1 Jan 1984
1 Jan 2009

Very rare Japanese whisky, there is very, very little Kagoshima whisky anywhere in the world, as the distillery is now long closed. This whisky is made by vatting together five casks from the distillery, which were then allowed to marry/age for a further five years. This was distilled in May 1984, and sherry matured before bottling in October 2009. A release of 3,018 numbered bottles.
Very unusual. Hints of soy sauce, cut grass, motor oil, rubber tyres, butter, linseed oil, sherry and sultanas.
About as umami-rich as they come, this is a medium bodied whisky with tons of spice. Notes of caramel, sherried peels, spent matches, burnt sugar, black pepper and paraffin. What a whisky!
Medium length with notes of caramel and salted caramels. Cinnamon, nutmeg and honey sweetness.
