Stopped at the Macallan distillery in Sept. 2016 and sampled several Macallan drams when we were visiting Scotland so when I had a chance I picked up a bottle at Duty Free. I'm not really sure how to describe my first and second tastes - While I'd readily admit that I can't really pick up on all of the complexities of Scotches (I just enjoy them) - this one left me puzzled - not bad but kind of non descript - just couldnt get a handle on it - certainly not a bad dram but in my opinion not an outstanding one either - especially for the price point - However from the other reviews that I read, perhaps it could have been the batch I got ?
Great to kick back with this single malt scotch after long day. Very fruity nose, apples, rose pastels, lots of marshmallows! Light in the palate and extremely long finish with a lot of spices and yes! Lingering chocolate notes! Satisfaction.
Have tried this many times in hope that I can find something I like about this whisky. It just seems bland and lacks complexity. It's fairly smooth but this one isn't for me.
