The Macallan Ruby - 1824 Series

The jewel in the crown of The Macallan's 1824 Series is erm, a Ruby! With the darkest hue in a no age statement range where colour is king, Ruby has spent the longest time in only the very finest sherry casks. The colour has been taken on naturally with no artificial colouring.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

    All timer ...

One of The best whisky I ever tasted. Lucky for me that I have two bottles. I hope that they sell it again.

Better than the 18 Sherry Cask

Lovely nose. As smooth as it gets. A Macallan of old. Very under rated.

It's one of the most gentle whiskies I have ever tried. It's even much better than great 18 yo.

For sherry fans - not for peat junkies

What can we learn from the posting of the Islay fan drama queen? If you are complete Islay fan and you need a kick from your whisky, then don't drink Macallan Ruby. I just love Sherry cask-finished whiskies. And the Macallan Ruby is an outstanding whisky if it comes to matured in Sherry casks. Unfortunately I cannot compare the Ruby to the others of the Macallan sherry oak expressions. In comparison to Glentauchers and Aberlour the Macallan Ruby is my favorite. The surmise about the mixed ages ranges from 10yo to 15yo.

    Junk in a pretty package

OK first a disclaimer...I am an Islay fan. I like scotch that hits you and you respect it by sipping slowly. I like complexity and rich, viscous liquid. This Ruby bottle is none of the above and absolute garbage. Forgot even the price, it has zero complexity, no kick, and you might as well be drinking sherry because the sweetness is like syrup. I have 7/8 of a bottle that may hit the sink. I can see why this was discontinued so fast.
