This is the fifth edition in The Macallan Harmony Collection. The limited annual series delves into a host of intriguing flavour explorations through collaborations with world-renowned chefs, connoisseurs and artistic creators, with innovative packaging made with organic by-products. For this edition, The Macallan delves into the world of tea, working with tea purveyor JING.
This whisky is inspired by an Oolong tea named Phoenix Honey Orchid. Predominantly aged in sherry-seasoned American oak casks, there are notes of peach, florals, and honey reminiscent of the tea. Meanwhile, a portion of sherry-seasoned European oak matured whisky brings rich, roasted notes and a touch of tannic astringency, while bourbon casks offer a final touch of sweetness.
The presentation box for this edition is made from waste tea leaves, deemed unsuitable for consumption and repurposed to make paper.
Fresh peaches in rich syrup, warm citrus and toffee, light floral notes leading to a delicate leafy astringency.

This whisky evokes the warmth, richness, and glow of a perfect summer evening — ideal for a smooth, sun-kissed whisky. However, I have rated this 4 stars instead of 5, due to the fact that, like most Macallan’s, though exquisit, this one is double in price what it should be. £80 maximum would be my pricing.
