This release of the much-adored Macallan 25 Year Old single malt pre-dates the move to annual releases in 2018. An immensely collectible whisky!

Very fruity, with notes of orange and pear on the nose. Also has a good dollop of sweet spices which develop into an almost smoky character. The sherry on the nose is refined and well balanced, with hints of honey and caramel.
Textbook malt delivery which gives way to a mouthful of dried apricots, prunes and figs. Hints of nutmeg and cinnamon weave in and out of an epic whack of honey that only a Speyside distillery of this kind of nobility can produce.
A long, full finish that carries fig, spices, chewy oak and a touch of light smoke.

I was fortunate enough to try a wee dram of this today and it was truly fantastic. I'm not sure about the pear on the nose or the apricots on the palate, but other than that I think the review from the "Chaps" is fairly accurate. I actually thought the whisky was slightly creamy too, and after finishing the dram I got a good whiff of charred oak and wood smoke from the empty glass. It's ridiculously expensive, but if you can spare the cash then go for it!
Chewy, sticky and rubbery- you're in for a treat!
