This release of the much-adored Macallan 25 Year Old single malt pre-dates the move to annual releases in 2018. An immensely collectible whisky!
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Very fruity, with notes of orange and pear on the nose. Also has a good dollop of sweet spices which develop into an almost smoky character. The sherry on the nose is refined and well balanced, with hints of honey and caramel.
Textbook malt delivery which gives way to a mouthful of dried apricots, prunes and figs. Hints of nutmeg and cinnamon weave in and out of an epic whack of honey that only a Speyside distillery of this kind of nobility can produce.
A long, full finish that carries fig, spices, chewy oak and a touch of light smoke.

I was handed a glass at a work party, "here, try this scotch." Nose unexpected, tongue wow, finish complex....what the heck am I drinking?? The bar keep holds up the Macallan 25. "Oh I see." This is the best whisky I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. Only one problem now; how can a return to the mortal realm of my usual dram? $850 a bottle is a tough sale to the wife but I know there is something I can bribe her with so find me in a week and I may share.
Put it this way, you can't drink money. You can't eat it, and it at the end of the day it's just paper. If there is any question in your mind weather or not this is worth the money, I'm here to tell you it is. This is my second bottle and the flavor that I get with this of mellowed sherry, and sublime perfectly aged oak is better than any other liquor I've ever tasted. Sure there's the $2,000+ cognacs and all that, but this is better than all of that stuff. Forget the Louis tre and all that other stuff. Buy a bottle of this, have a dram every 3-4 months, share it with friends when they really love scotch, and every 16 months invest in it again. For some of the best stuff on earth, $850 - $1200 is well worth the price.
So it is said Death rides in. What is not noted is that he is drinking The MacAllen. This is why he is never in a hurry.
Extremely pleasant way to celebrate my BIG 65th! This never gets old!
I have been collecting and drinking very old and good cognac in the pass 4 years, and also wine for the pass 12 years. Recently, I started to consume single malt whisky because of some good friends recommendations. I have tried as many Whisky as when I can or even comparing 6 difference bottles at one time. But, nothing I drank earns my heart of perfection. Until a night, a friend of mine pour a glass of whisky for me for blind taste. When I smell it, my heart started to open. When I drank it, I tell myself that this is what I am hunting for. It is maccallen 25 sherry oak! For money wise, if you Can spend, get as many as you can find before it is getting much more expensive.
