Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Very fruity, with notes of orange and pear on the nose. Also has a good dollop of sweet spices which develop into an almost smoky character. The sherry on the nose is refined and well balanced, with hints of honey and caramel.
Palate
Textbook malt delivery which gives way to a mouthful of dried apricots, prunes and figs. Hints of nutmeg and cinnamon weave in and out of an epic whack of honey that only a Speyside distillery of this kind of nobility can produce.
Finish
A long, full finish that carries fig, spices, chewy oak and a touch of light smoke.

A night at the Bellagio with my friend Mac25
I've seen this referenced in movies, however, never would I think to be drinking a glass...let alone two glasses in one sitting. Nevertheless, I was fortunate enough to have a friend working the high-limit slots at the Bellagio who comped me at the bar. His words, "anything you want bro". So I asked the bartender if he had a choice to drink anything at the bar, what would it be? Without hesitation, he said "Macallan 25". I asked how much a pour was, he said "$125". "Damn", I said, "let's run this!" The nose was very fruity with notes of orange and pear. I couldn't wait to have this hit my palate!!! There was a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg running wild baby!!! As for the finish, lovely spices with a touch of smoke. OH YEAH!!! Feeling a little guilty, I said, can I get a glass of 18 year Macallan. He instantly replied, "you're friend is comping you, why go backwards?" And he poured me my second glass of heaven...

Macallan 25 sherry cask
I have had two bottles in my lifetime and treat every dram with honour. Only can be described as "the very special tipple". We are all very lucky to have this 25 year old available and even better if we have a bottle. I eventually bought a bottle for my son this Christmas and we had a real cream on the cake when it come to after dinner tipples. The best whiskey, in my opinion. Enjoy.

Perfection
Biblical references to honey and ambrosia were likely precursors to this nectar of the gods. I have purchased a total of 5 bottles over the past 20 years or so, and 25 / The Anniversary Malt (as it was also known) has never been equaled on my palate. I've experienced scores of premium scotches over the years and enjoyed several "tasting" events put together by friends, but I would not consider myself an expert. An avid enthusiast, perhaps. When I celebrate a major accomplishment or welcome a new friend, I typically offer a dram of 12, 18 and 25 in progression. While the depth and character of 18 really stands out after 12, what is most interesting is how the 25 compares to the 18: the mouth is even more supple and complex, even as the sherry backs off. As aptly noted above, there is a hint of "oiliness" which gives the deep flavor the proper staying power, and the finish is a lovely grace note of fig, spice and a whiff of smoke. Again, I'm no expert. But to me, Mac25 is the perfect scotch because in one dram you get a superbly balanced taste of all the best the genre has to offer. It's like an all-star team with players from the various regions of the country, all in perfect harmony. It's too bad the price has gone from $130 to $800+ during the past 20 years, doubling from $400 as of December, 2012. But a change in distributors and demand pull from China will have that effect on super-premium brands (great French wines and Swiss watches have risen sharply, too). Even still, I have yet to find a substitute for this sublime offering. I honestly doubt it exists. Take the plunge. Savor it. And share it if you can.

Mac25
Just finishing off my second dram of the night of this beauty. tons of caramel and butterscotch on the nose, figs, raisin and peat to the palate. Opened up my bottle of 25 after a taste of a friends bottle of Mac30 on the course. Amazingly, I prefer the 25! Both worth every penny, but I'd take 2 bottles of 25 for 1 Boyle of 30 any day of the week. a truly memorable scotch, and 100% Macallan...

Superlative in nose, feel and finish
Had my first (and probably last, as it is insanely expensive!) glass of this incredible Single Malt Scotch. Was at a local restaurant and decided to finish a delicious meal with a whiskey, instead of dessert. I'm a Balvenie Single Barrel Reserve or Glenlivet 18 year Single Malt girl. However, the restaurant had an impressive selection of Single Malts, Bourbons and Rye's so I decided to go for the Macallan 25. 'Spirits' menu had no prices listed and having no previous experience with this particular scotch, I naively assumed it would be a $40-50 dram. I didn't ask and the waitress didn't quote any price!
When the glass arrived, I was immediately taken with the gorgeous, deep, rich color and holding it to my nose, detected apricots, honey, buttery vanilla notes followed with rich, spicy dried fruits and a hint of peat. The mouth was supple and full, with just the right 'oily' texture to give it some depth. The best was the finish...warm, cinnamon and spice - followed shortly with a subtle smokiness that lingered just long enough. An incredible Speyside Single Malt.
Hated to finish it off as it was truly the finest Scotch I've ever had the pleasure to drink.
When the bill arrived I was shocked to see the price...$105 for a dram!!!
Our waitress was heralded in the restaurant for selling a Macallan 25 that day.
Still, despite the price it was a very special experience and I'm delighted that I did not know the price before I ordered it!
I would have never had that superlative experience. Sometimes you have to just close your eyes and 'jump!'
