The Macallan
Scotland
Single Malt
Introduced in mid-2018, the Triple Cask range takes the place of Fine Oak in the Macallan stable. This expression is made exclusively with whisky aged for at least 15 years in a combination of European sherry seasoned casks, American sherry seasoned casks and American ex-bourbon casks.
Citrus blossom, hot chocolate, cardamom seed, treacle.
Quince, salted butter, poached pear, a hint of cigar box.
Lasting cinnamon and raisin, with a touch of lemon.
A gentle and inoffensive Macallan that had it been priced at other 15 year old Speyside malt levels i would have been happy with. Macallan seems to be double the price and half the pleasure these days. Double or triple wood just does not live upto the hype and better value for money Speyside distilleries such as Glenallachie and Benriach offer much more bang for your buck.
An average bottle and not very noteworthy. I would call it a good bottle to introduce people to tasting scotch because it’s smooth with a nice Light smokey finish. Got it as a gift, wouldn’t pay the price for the name.
Still prefer the old 15yrs fine oak
12 YO sherry wayyy better
Not a truel macallan get a balvenie 12 instead
