The best in the world!!
After a pleasant walk along the river spey we stopped at Macallan and tried a dram or two. I bought this to take home and loved it. Its an easy drinking speyside, great finish with lots of honey and straw and I preferred it over the glen livet 18 ( not perhaps the 21, which I love but at twice the price it figures). The only bad thing is the price which has gone up considerably since I bought it, I might have to drive back to Scotland it would be worth it.
$113 for Macallan 10 are we going loopy here? Go but a Macallan 12 for $50 and call it a day. You get 2 more years of maturation, and all the great sherry flavor for half the price. Don't buy the hype here. Just go after the flavor. This is WAY overpriced.
This sums up Speyside single malts for me and it's possibly the best bottle I've owned as well as tried. Super easy to drink but has buckets of flavour and finish. Pricey for a 10 yo, as seems the Macallan way but I'd say this is an elite scotch.
I never understood how anyone could like the taste of whisky? Im 43 and recently went on a jaunt to the Highlands. I was blowing the froth off a few lagers in a beautiful hotel in Dunkeld and was staring at all the whiskies lined up as trophies in the bar. Intrigued, I got chatting with the barman who was extremely knowledgeable. He gave me this macallan. I was Instantly impressed. I can't believe how ignorant I've been.
