The Macallan
Scotland
Single Malt
An older bottling of the Macallan 10 Year Old, matured exclusively in sherry casks and released in the late 2000s. Whether you're feeling nostalgic, or adding to a collection, this is a great find.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Great stuff. Incredibly strong flavours of dried fruits, particularly raisins. Reminds me of strong and alcoholic fruit cakes. An absolute delight, very distinctive!
The Macallan deserves its reputation as one of the greats - you're unlikely to come across a better entry-level whisky than this. The palate is slightly weak compared to the excellent and complex nose, but this is a minor quibble. One of the most enjoyable whiskies I've had.
Outstanding. Many years ago I was unaware of the Sherry and Fine Oak seperate versions. I started with the Sherry version and one day bought a Fine Oak bottle unaware of the difference - Until I drank it and was most unhappy with the Fine Oak version. This is a winner and is so smooth, knocks spots of other competitors.
A friend and myself decided to investigate this muched hyped Macallan, the investigation led to quite a debate as to wether we had ever tasted a smoother well balanced whisky,it was hard as there are some fantastic whiskies out there, close as it was, we did agree it was up there with the best in this price range.Very very enjoyable.
55 years I hated whisky. Then one night I was at the Thainstone Hotel, Inverurie, enjoying a Guiness. There were rows and rows of Macallan. May be it was the open fire, but some reason I said, "I'll try a Macallan please," One sip was a life-changing moment. It was absolutely beautiful. Some months later I took my wife to Aberdeen and showed her The Grill. At that time it had 384 whiskys. The barman informed me that Macallan 10 year old was easily their best seller and I could not help but smile and nod.
