Well, well, if it isn't batch 21 of That Boutique-y Whisky Company's marvellous Macallan! This single malt was harvested from Macallan's rather small stills and aged for 24 years. Speaking of the stills, that curious giant man with his equally giant magnifying glass is back taking a peek at them! He just can't seem to get his head around how small they are. Nobody tell him about micro pigs.
Batch 21 is a release of 337 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Musty leather, oak and chewy tannins, then sweet acacia honey and toffee provide a reassuringly refined opening. Citrus zestiness, dried fruit and a little chocolate then develop, before hints of golden cereals, Calvados and sunbaked earth add depth. There’s a touch of cold tea in a Moscow Mule mug, strange as it sounds.
Palate
The sweet, dark fruits, bramble jelly and dates, take centre stage, but you’ll pick up Seville orange marmalade, apricot yoghurt and antique oak furniture alongside them. A mix of dark bitter chocolate, chestnut and liquorice are present in the backdrop, with plenty of earthy, herbal spices and charred, honeyed meat.
Finish
Dry, long and little smoky. Plenty of resinous fruity notes remain and add sweetness.
