Launched for the travel retail market, this stunning Macallan is made in sherry-seasoned hoggies and is bottled at the old 80 degrees proof. Very tasty stuff from the 1824 Collection.

Very nice fragrance, complex flavor, simultaneously both sweet and spice flavors Nice long finish. I think that this would be great for someone that loves to light cigars with $50 bills, or as a prestige gift for someone, as the price is very steep for this, and I think hard core Scotch fanciers would likely find something they like that is a better value.
I got a bottle of Macallan estate reserve not long after purchasing the rare cask, both of which are about the same price, so I'll use their price point to compare the two. The estate reserve is a very complex, intense scotch and offers a much different flavor profile than that of the rare cask -- and yet, both are unmistakably Macallan. While I personally prefer the smoothness of the Macallan rare cask a little more (which I consider "drinkability"; in other words, a flavor that even a novice scotch drinker would enjoy), depending on my mood and who I share a glass of scotch with, the estate reserve is hands down one of the best scotches I've ever tried. Its finish is of exceptional length and very complex, and probably the best part. Like the energizer bunny, it keeps going, and going, and going... If you drink this scotch with other people, it gives you plenty to talk about. Bottom line: If you want a smooth, complex Macallan -- go with the rare cask. If you want an intense, rich and complex Macallan -- go with the estate reserve. Either way, you won't be disappointed.

Recieved as a gift from a client... Wonderful nose, smooth finish with a complex and satisfying aftertaste - seems to be worth the price tag!
Found this one in Singapore. I know the McAllen reputation and was not concerned of the price. It was well worth the purchase
