The Lakes Whiskymaker's Editions - Bal Masque
The Lakes Distillery has gone and created another excellent expression for its Whiskymaker's Editions series, this time dubbed Bal Masque, taking inspiration from the mysteriousness of masquerade balls. This English single malt features whisky matured in French oak casks, which has imparted aromatic notes of almond, raisin, and delicate nutmeg warmth.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Soft nutmeg and cinnamon, joined by incense and ripe orchard fruit.
Palate
Vanilla sponge with fresh cream, toasted almonds and walnuts, red apples, and a smidge of spiced plum.
Finish
Lasting warmth of oak and freshly crushed spices, with soft fruit sweetness for balance.
