The Heart Cut x Barley marks the first release in the bottler's three-part grain series, celebrating the grains that shape whisky: Barley, Corn and Rye. It brings together single malt casks from five respected English distilleries: Copper Rivet, The English, Cotswolds, White Peak, and Adnams, creating a modern English blended malt.
The profile was built on insight from over 5,000 whisky drinkers through the bottler's Whisky Matchmaker. Expect bright summer fruits, thick vanilla cream, cinnamon bun sweetness and soft berry character, all bottled at a confident 46% ABV. Serve neat, shaken in a Sour or stirred into an Old Fashioned.
Ripe berries and meringue make this a sweet Eton Mess of a nose, with marmalade, shortbread, and cinnamon-heavy porridge making this a very British whisky indeed. There’s strawberry yoghurt, fireplace embers, and honey in the backdrop.
Now we’re into peaches and cream territory. The palate is malty and supple with lots of vanilla sweetness accompanied by more raspberries, orange zest, and baking spices.
The flavours become maltier, more chocolatey as they settle, with bright citrus and more cinnamon for good measure.
