The Glenlivet Master Distiller's Reserve - Solera Vatted
One of two new Master Distiller's releases from the summer of 2015, originally for travel retail. The Solera Reserve, like the others in the range, is made up of whiskies matured in ex-Sherry casks, American oak casks and traditional oak (i.e. refill) casks. This is what they mean by 'triple cask matured'. For the Solera Reserve a high proportion of first fill American oak is used and all the whiskies are brought together in a marrying vat that is never emptied, becoming more complex each year.

Nose
Caramelised pears and toffee apples. Classic stuff.
Palate
Fruit in syrup with cream, fudge pieces and honeycomb.
Finish
Long with vanilla and honeyed fruit.
