The Glenlivet 18

This excellent 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenlivet is a classic Speyside dram, matured in a combination of first and second fill American oak and sherry casks. It also won two golds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.

Palate Full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs - fennel and spearmint.

Finish Long and dry with a spicy oak note.

Winner of 11 spirit awards

Reviews for The Glenlivet 18 Year Old
Super smooth
Not normally a whisky drinker.
Bought a bottle for a friend. Three of us tried a tiny sip. We all thought it very special. So I bought a bottle for my family over Christmas. Super smooth and definitely a hint of Christmas in there. Delicious

Not a patch on the earlier version!
The new 40% version is not a patch on the earlier 43% version. Totally lost the essence of an iconic Scotch and made me look at other options!

Solid Speysider
Considering that it is bottled at 40% abv, this is a very intense, well-balanced whisky. I don't understand the very negative reviews here.

The nose is all Christmas cake, cinnamon, orange zest and toffee. The taste is intensely malty, rich butterscotch, citrus fruit, chocolate pudding and custard.

There is no burn, only a light pepperiness in the long finish.

IMHO this is a really good whisky and these days represents good value at the price.

Very good
Some reviewers here who give this whisky less than 3 out of 5 stars are quite unfairly to this product. Of course it would be much better if it was
unchillfiltered, uncoloured and 46% ABV. For a 18 years old whisky it smells and tastes exactly how it should be - clean, smooth and mature. It is nothing
earth-shattering or mind-blowing, but noways it deserves 2 stars. Come on
guys, this is not a 7,99 Euro blended whisky from the supermarket. I will definitely buy it again

Poor
Really poor at 40%, tastes thin - a shame as it could be much better if properly presented

Poor expression of Glenlivet
Very disappointing indeed - come one Glenlivet you can do better that this - 40% feels thin and looks like it has added colouring too.

Disappointing
I used to love Glenlivet 18 when it was 43%. This new iteration does not even come close.

What a perfect whisky
In South Africa, we get it at 43%. What a perfect whisky. One note that stands out for me is liquorice (liquorice all sorts), the ones you get with the coloured little balls on. I can drink this all day long

Velvet Pears
Not a scotch drinker
And its the hardest drink for me to like
But this is very nice smooth like velvet no burn whatsoever.
Tastes like pears to me, pricey but il get it again sometime.

Really Excellent Speyside
One of my favourite Malts, the xtra 3% ABV over the 40% 12 YO makes a significant difference, as well as the age.

Noting earlier review, do make sure you get the 43%

The 100 proof “Red Lion” 15 YO even better, but no longer available
