The Glenlivet
Scotland
Single Malt
Another Nàdurra here from Glenlivet! This one, Batch 0814D, was matured in bourbon casks and has been bottled at cask strength, with no chill-filtration or additional colours, which is this whole range's style. These have been very well-received indeed (and Jake rather likes them, too).
Juicy oranges (with a touch of bitter Curaçao peels), cereals, honey and vanilla ice cream.
Still packed with fruit, now with some dark berry influence coming through. Toffee syrup for the vanilla ice cream, and some spicy cinnamon later.
More oak spice lingers on the finish.
So a buddy of mine left this at my house during a scotch tasting and since he hasn't picked it up yet figured I'd have a small glass(with his permission of course) and be the first to review this on here so here we go:right off the bat without tasting I can tell I will like it this is how all scotch should be it has an age statement 16 years,it's non chill filtered/naturally colored, and bottled at cask strength big kudos to Glenlivet. With a splash of water this is absolutely delightful, creamy green apples and pears meet cinnamon and bourbon oak with a fruity vanilla bean ice cream finish truly superb. Also surprisingly smooth for a cask strength not abrasive or harsh at all but by no means lacking that punch you want in a cask strength. This is my favorite whisky I've had from Glenlivet without a doubt really shows what they are capable of I would highly recommend this, damn good stuff.
