Single Malt
The Glenlivet
Scotland
The Glenlivet gave its range a glow up in 2014, but this bottle of its 12 Year Old single malt was released before that time, offering a green-tinted window into the past.
This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!
Sweet creamy vanilla, honey, pineapple, vanilla, pressed apples and a little cinnamon.
Apple cores, fresh and fruity trifle and creamy citrus.
Long and delicious, almonds and apple.
One of the best selling malts in the world, well-worth re-visiting.
£4.89 - £38.90
If your after an easy drinking and smoothly executed whisky look no further at this price it can't be beaten.
Superb drink
I like it very much as a single malt drinker. This is a smooth ( not smokey) one with a character. Taste is rich. Aroma of pineapple makes it something special to me. An excellent whisky.
I have been a Glenlivet 12 year old aficionado for some 25 years and it was always my go to single malt. However, with the discontinuance of the classic 12 year old Glenlivet and the replacement with the Founder's Reserve, I am no longer a Glenlivet fan. The Founder's Reserve is watered down, too sweet, and is lacking of the complexities of the original Glenlivet 12 year old. I can only speculate that they are trying to gain market share on the Macallan 12 year old sherry oak single malt by under cutting the price. In any event, I am done with Glenlivet Founder's Reserve. My new single malt of choice is Old Pulteney, a 12 year old with an amber to gold color and matured in American oak bourbon casks in the Speyside region, next to the sea. Thus, it is know as The Maritime Malt and is offered at a reasonable price point.
I just bought a fresh bottle of Livet 12. I had a tone of Livet back in the days (5-10y back). It was my go to dram, drams lol, going hand in hand with chivas 12, hennessy vs. This one is bottled at 2018/08/13 20.52 LPCM 1597. What can I say? The price war high, close to Livet15, and about 30% increase versus old times, and versus now price of chivas 12. Overall? At this high price, go for the 15 instead, or if you wanna remember old times. It is just what I remember, just that I think my palate has eveloped to a higher level. I will not mix it, but I will also not gonna pour it to the glencarn and savour it. This one will be drank straight from the bottle. Not gonna vote cause of the old times...This will forever be my love.
