The second addition to The Original Stories series from The Glenlivet! This expression follows The Glenlivet 12 Year Old - Illicit Still, and celebrates the next chapter in the history of the distillery's founder George Smith. After years of illicit distilling, Smith became one of the first to gain a license to legally distill Scotch following the passing of the 1823 Excise Act. Matured for 12 years in a combination of American and European oak, we reckon he'd be rather proud of this splendid Speysider.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Fresh apricot and summer fruits with a drizzle of honey and delicate dustings of spice.
Palate
The honeyed sweetness continues on the palate, joined by buttery oak and creamy vanilla. Nutty malt rests comfortably at the core.
Finish
Warming cinnamon, a touch of root ginger, and anise arrive, though rich caramel remains.
