A cask strength 16 year old Glenlivet bottled for their Nadurra range. An intense, creamy whisky - this is Batch 1210M.
Malty and toasty with notes of vanilla, tropical fruit, watermelon, coconut milk, manuka honey and hot buttered toast.
Rich and sweet with thick notes of custard, drizzled over apple crumble, with hints of tropical fruits, oak and potpourri.
Good length with sweet vanilla and black pepper on the tail.
Not as subtle as their standard 12, 15, and 18 year. As others have said, a very nice punch of fruit, and a nice warm finish.
I've seen this described as a 'fruit bomb', and it sounds about right. When you add water, there's an explosion of fruity aromas and flavours. Overall, it's a great example of a more 'pure' or 'traditional' Glenlivet style.
My friend and I went wild and bought about 7 bottles of completely underpriced whisky in Agadir airport June 2010. This bottle as well as the others were all new. This is an excellent speysider, full of the fruit and smoothness one would expect, yet it feels that bit more special. In all honesty the price asked for it here in the UK is a bit steep considering you can buy an equally complex speyside malt like the Macallan for about £10 less, but if you have the cash don't miss out!! Adam.
