A blended malt from The Glasgow Distillery Co., inspired by the malt tax riots of 1725. The Government tried to impose taxes on Scotland's malted barley, which people protested against, particularly in Glasgow, where malt stores were barricades and excise men are chased away the city. This expression features a core of the distillery's 1770 whisky, and features other malt whiskies from across Scotland. Well suited to using in all sorts of classic whisky cocktails and mixed drinks, this one.
Freshly baked bread with marmalade, floral vanilla, a whisper of sawdust.
Fruitier on the palate, with some zesty citrus and mango, shortly joined by gingerbread and amaretti biscuits.
Lingering ginger spiciness.
This whisky is pretty terrible - I could only manage it in mixer
Immediate and overbearing medicinal taste that dominates the palate, preventing almost any other flavours from coming through. The suggestion that this should be used in whisky cocktails or mixed drinks is apt, anything to attempt to mask the flavour of the whisky!
