Glasgow 1770 - Golden Beer Cask Finish
Bottled at a bold 58.5% ABV, this limited edition single malt from the Glasgow Distillery is its first exploration into the world of beer cask finishes. The unpeated spirit was filled into a bourbon barrel in April 2019 where it remained until June 2022. Next, the whisky was transferred for a four-month finish in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask that previously held Innis & Gun's Original beer for three months. Released in October 2022, there are just 356 bottles of this one.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Toasted nuts, malted biscuits, melted toffee, and distant hops.
Palate
A medley of vanilla, stewed forest fruits, and caramel are followed by juicy barley, candied pecans, and toasted oak.
Finish
Hints of herbaceous hops bring a dry, gently bitter finish, balanced by butterscotch and more oaken vanilla.
