Glasgow 1770 Cognac Peat

An exquisite limited edition single malt from the Glasgow Distillery, distilled in 2018 and bottled in 2022. After an initial maturation in American white oak barrels, the whisky was transferred to ex-Cognac barriques in late 2020, where it rested until bottling. The classic peaty core combined with the rich oak and vinous fruit influence of the cask makes this a supremely satisfying sipper. A release of 882 bottles.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Barbecued fruits, leathery oak, and autumn berries, with smoked tea leading to notes of woody spice.

Palate Crystalised ginger and hearty peat smoke welcome the way for generous helpings of earthen clove and cinnamon. Fragrant malt brings notes of prunes, chocolate, and a touch of fruity zest.

Finish Lingering whispers of peat smoke and bittersweet cocoa, roasted coffee beans, dates, and caramel biscuits.

Reviews for Glasgow 1770 - Cognac Cask Finish (Peated)
Very tasty stuff

Nose: BBQ orange peel and maybe some pineapple, tobacco, ash. After a bit of water, definitely some sweet pineapple and hints of passionfruit. Subtle oak and chamomile in there too.

Taste: very oily mouthfeel, rich but not too sweet, notably spicy, dark oranges, ginger, cinnamon, bread maybe a subtle hint of tea cakes, BBQ smoke but not unpleasantly obtrusive.

Finish: Medium to long, peppery, smoky with some ashiness.

There’s a lot to enjoy here!
