Reviews for The English - Smokey
Pleasant, young malt
This lacks the depth of islay malt. Which it does not claim to be.
However it is a nice tasting clean Smokey malt. To be enjoyed for what it is.
I would buy this again.

Very surprised
True to say, on first tasting this is full of youthful exuberance, a bit of hooligan. BUT the after taste is divine. I don't proclaim to be a connoisseur but this is definitely worth trying.

A correction
Regarding the person claiming this is a grain whisky, it clearly says "single malt" on the label. It's decent but obviously extremely young.

Very tasty
If you want an Islay-type peated whisky, go and buy one. This doesn't aim to compete. It's altogether different and individual. The peat infuses the taste with smokiness, but it's far more three-dimensional than that. Perhaps it's a little sweet, but at least it's clean and not the heavy sweetness that you get with some sherried malts. I love it. I see that one reviewer has called it a grain whisky and gave it one star without even drinking it! I wonder what malt they were reviewing. Obviously not this one!

Awful, a charlatan spirit
This is a very poor quality grain whisky lacking any maturity or complexity. No age declaration. I was given this as a gift and won't drink it. I'm amazed at the price, it's really out of order. People are buying this in good faith and the price would indicate it's a good quality product. Shame MoM are stocking it.

Love it
Certainly has a unique taste that i love. Im no whiskey connoisseur, and dont understand why
English Whisky can be judged against Scottish, Irish, or any other Whisky from around the world.
It's like comparing wines from different countries and deciding which is the best.
To me this whisky has a flavor that for me makes it my current number one choice.

Avoid.
I've been drinking Ardbeg and other Islay malts for over 40 years, this isn't even in the championship. Smokey and nothing else other than an unwanted sweet aftertaste.

Good attempt at Peaty Whisky
Good attempt at a peaty whisky but Islay whisky as expected is better! Decent 43% whisky at a reasonable price. Good whisky for toasting "To the English " Look forward to some more "untraditional" English Whisky in the coming years. Keep up the good work Cheers

Smokey, but that's it.
It's got smoke but not the flavour of an Islay (or Brora). I'm not sure what they do differently on Islay but no current peated whisky from off island that I've tried seems to have the same depth. The standard expression is much better.

Nice surprise
Nice surprise. Very long, sweet and smokey nose, a bit of seaweed on the back. Full and round taste, well balanced - very often there is plain spirit biting the tongue from NAS whiskies but not here. Would definitely try it again. And again.
