Single Malt
7 Jul 2010
26 Feb 2016

A heavily peated single malt whisky here from the English Whisky Company, bottled some time ago as part of the Master of Malt Single Cask Series! This five-year-old English whisky was distilled in July 2010, matured in a bourbon cask and bottled in February 2016.
An initial wave of earthy peat soon subsides to give light to notes of oat cakes and smoky bacon. There’s a touch of caramelised malt and toasted marshmallow in there too, alongside banana and honeydew melon.
Creamy sweetness of butterscotch and vanilla at first, before wood smoke wafts in to view. Hot cinnamon dusted over a freshly-brewed coffee. Water unlocks a hint of sticking plasters and green apple.
Tangy orange and continued smoky peat last very long on the finish.
Well peated and deliciously smoky English single malt.
