The Dublin Liberties 13 Year Old Murder Lane

The Dublin Liberties 13yo Bottling Note

Don't be put off by the name, Murder Lane from The Dublin Liberties is a vibrant single malt whiskey! The 13 Year Old sees an initial maturation in bourbon barrels before its transferred to Hungarian Tokaj wine casks for a finish, imparting a sweet and slightly syrupy flavour profile. The whiskey is in fact named after an unmarked alley in Dublin, though with that nickname we perhaps wouldn't recommend visiting...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Bounty bar, vanilla macaroons and icing sugar, with almond butter and creamy vanilla pod.

Palate: Chocolate-dipped marzipan, tinned peaches in syrup, with coconut cream, nectarine and vanilla cake batter.

Finish: Lots of dried apricot and honey.

Reviews for The Dublin Liberties 13 Year Old Murder Lane
My new favorite Irish Whiskey
While on a trip to Ireland we stopped at a couple distilleries. Went to this one without very high expectations and I quickly changed my mind. I tend to prefer peaty single-malt Scotch whiskey, but this particular whiskey rocked to one of the top on my list by the end of the second sip. It's smooth, easy to drink, complex, with all the yummy flavor undertones I enjoy.

I'm just glad I didn't try their Keeper's Coin. I can't afford to have that kind of taste.

On a related note, I tried their Dubliner, which I found quite enjoyable as well. If you enjoy liqueurs and don't mind a heavy dose of honey with your whiskey, I'd recommend giving it a try. I would consider it akin to a gateway drug for drinking whiskey, especially for those with a sweet tooth. I drink that when my childish sweet tooth is over-powering my adult drinking tongue.
