From Macduff distillery, this is a single malt you may know as Glen Deveron, but a new range of expressions and new packaging in September 2015 also saw a change of name to The Deveron. This is the 12 year old.
Sweet baking spice, toffee apples and ginger.
A core of butterscotch with waxy malt and apple pie.
Wood spice, vanilla and soft oakiness.
A new-look core expression for a single malt that's rightly getting more attention.

Apropos my earlier comments on The Deveron 12 I have now had a chance to sample it again and feel that I may have been too hasty in my criticism. For some inexplicable reason my bottle seems to have lost some of its overpowering sweetness and, for that reason alone, is seems more drinkable. Perhaps the 'sugars' rise to the top when the bottle is on the shelf and consequently my first exposure was oversweet in comparison to later samples. At any rate it now seems more acceptable and I will give it 3 stars as a reward.
The Deveron 12 year old whisky is too cloyingly sweet for my taste and butterscotch sweet is a good overall description. The overall taste lingers on the palate and almost cries out for a glass of water to dispel the memory of it. It's certainly a smooth whisky but I am in no hurry to pour myself a second shot.
Just finished my first bottle of devron 12 this afternoon and I must say it was fantastic. I will be ordering another one soon
A very good whisky. Smooth but kind of spicy, feel ginger for sure. I like it.
Very, very smooth. I really like this one!
