16-year-old single malt Scotch whisky from the Glen Deveron range, which is the name that Macduff uses for its official bottlings. This was originally released for the Travel Retail market.
Orchard fruits arrive first on the nose, followed by robust notes of golden barley.
More chewy cereal notes and green apple, soon joined by an elegant, subtle hint of peat smoke.
Lasting oak-y, peaty warm elements.
We loved it! I am not a Scotch drinker. This was given to my fiance' as a gift from our Scottish neighbor who brought it back from Scotland for him. We had a wee dram with her and toast as she was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer. We were hoping to get another bottle as we decided to toast her on every one of her birthdays so wish we could get in in the USA. Plus I think it will be the only Scotch I'll ever drink very smooth.
I received a bottle as a gift here in the USA. So far, I'm enjoying it, but it has very little nose to it and doesn't really have the smoothness it claims to have. Also I find it spicy like rye whiskey, which I didn't expect. I'd buy another bottle if I could, mainly on it's rarity here in the USA.
Whoever is giving this a 1 Star (and writing like they think they know what they are talking about) is a goof. It’s a very decent scotch. Half these wannabe ‘experts’ don’t know s**t!
I found this to be quite low quality tasting, for a 16 year old single malt it certainly doesn’t taste like it. The price for a litre 16 single malt seems to good to be true, spoiler alert: it is.
I'm not a huge scotch whiskey fan and find most of the ones that I've tried to be almost unpalatable I discovered Glen Deveron in of all places the duty free shop in Glasgow Scotland. They had a scotch tasting table set up (at 10:00 am yet). I asked the sommelier what would he recommend for someone like me who doesn't drink (or particularly like scotch whiskey). He gave me a sampling of Glen Deveron 16 year old and I was delightfully surprised at the taste, smoothness and finish. I immediately purchased a bottle to bring home with me and have enjoyed sharing a sip with my many scotch drinking friends.
