Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey

The Dead Rabbit Grocery & Grog in New York City is home to the largest collection of Irish whiskey in North America, so it was only a matter of time before it got its very own Irish whiskey! By teaming up with Darryl McNally, master distiller at The Dublin Liberties, they have created this excellent expression. It's based around a 5 year old whiskey matured in ex-bourbon barrels, which has then been finished in “half-sized” virgin American oak barrels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Cedar, toasted brown sugar, apricot-filled pastries.

Palate Caramel and vanilla sit up front, with notes of nutmeg, milky coffee and macadamia developing in the background.

Finish Lingering waxy fruit and a tickle of black pepper.

Reviews for The Dead Rabbit Irish Whiskey
Must try
No bite, alight burn. Pleasure to the nose. Bliss on the tounge

a ok utility whisky
I found this lacking in "personality" nothing objectionable, nothing outstanding more vapor than flavor would make a good mixed drink

Very Enjoyable
I am a new Irish whiskey drinker. I do enjoy Dead Rabbit very much. I think it is very good for the price point.

Tried to like it and struggled. Aftertaste not so good. Tyreconnell takes a lot of beating for an Irish or a lovely blend , 12 year Old Parr would kick its arse.

If you're too old or too tired for sex? This might make for a date night where there's no back-talk....just quiet agreement: )
Best Irish whiskey I have had in a very long while. I can see how your lads came up with apricot filled pastries. To me it's more well aged marmalade with a mouthfeel that's influenced by that sense one gets from brioche because this whiskey possesses that sort of feeling in the mouth, on the tongue and the "after it's gone" stage.

Too many Irish whiskies lack this character. This whiskey could be mistaken for a pure malt and, at its price point, offers decent value for money because the aftertaste lingers long

This needs more maturing
After all the reviews I was really keen to try this newcomer, but alas, it left me disappointed
Its not bad, its just not great either
It tastes a little young and could do with some more maturing
There is no complexity to it, its just blended whisky, plain and simple
There are better alternatives out there

Six stars
Oops, maybe I had hunted too many rabbits that night. Best enjoyed neat or you may add one teaspoon of water only. This rabbit is my new pet.
