The Blended Whisky Company has created yet another incredible whisky with a particularly punchy age statement. The XXX Blend is a 30 year old blended Scotch whisky, with its name coming from how 30 is written in Roman numerals. Every drop of whisky within this expression has been aged for at least three decades, letting its flavours to develop and mature in a way that only time and patience can allow. Expertly blended and hugely impressive, The XXX Blend is truly one to savour.
Warm apple turnovers with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, strawberry jam sandwiches, slowly developing aromatic cedar, with a touch of perfumed malt, too. New leather, brioche, and toffee popcorn.
Nutty baklava, lemon curd, toffee popcorn again, spicy caraway, mature oak. Enjoyably buttery on the mid-palate, leading to frangipane and Ricicles in milk notes.
Apples from the nose return, dotted with pear drops and plump raisins, with soft anise and clove carrying on and on.
A brilliantly well-structured blend, showing off its years proudly.
I picked this whisky up while it was on offer as I don't drink many blended bottlings, all I can say is this whisky is smooth on pallet and opens up complex flavours on the tongue, I would definitely recommend trying this if you're looking for something special!
Was lucky enough to get one of these for Father's Day. I am more of a single malt drinker, but this is really impressive for the age and price. Will buy again.
