Description
The Blended Whisky Company's Lost Distilleries Blend is an astonishing expression crafted using whiskies exclusively from distilleries which have shut over the years. Though gone, these distilleries are not forgotten at all, as the whisky that they leave behind is often highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts and collectors alike. This is Batch 9 of The Lost Distilleries Blend, made using malt whiskies from Caperdonich, Rosebank, Mosstowie, Glenisla, Imperial, Glenlochy, Glen Mhor, Craigduff, Port Ellen and Brora, as well as grain whisky from the Port Dundas distillery.
Batch 9 is a release of 476 bottles.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Chocolate covered marzipan, vanilla, tobacco leaf, liquorice root and a touch of red apple unfold. Worth spending time over.
Palate
Round and toffee'd, treacle like even, with hints of peat whilst also never losing a subtly fruity edge.
Finish
Long and eminently creamy with very subtle smoke adding complexity and intrigue.
Overall
Another batch of liquid history, with every drop coming from a distillery that's now sadly closed, including Rosebank, Brora and Port Ellen.
