Speyside #2 25yo TBWC Bottling Note

Another secretive Speysider from That Boutique-y Whisky Company! This one is a 25 year old single malt from a different Speyside-based distillery to Speyside #1, and it's packed to the brim with butterscotch richness, honeyed deliciousness and general mysteriousness.

Batch 1 is a release of 2,415 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Through estery malt, candied fruit and nutty almond oil there’s barley sugars and a hint of Turkish delight. A rich drying sensation from ginger and cinnamon develops as touches of lemon citrus and white oak influence emerge.

Palate A silken palate begins with praline, hazelnut and vanilla essence. Through subtle cedar, honey, dried apricot and maybe even a hint of rancio comes prickles of gingerbread, dark caramel and warming oak.

Finish Long, rich and slightly peppered, with a hint of salted toffee below.

Overall A richly resinous yet beautifully gentle dram. Just glorious.

Reviews for Speyside #2 25 Year Old (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
Not up to the hype
Very disappointed.
Was very excited to receive this as one of seven various bottles ordered from MoW. Opened it on my birthday weekend as a treat. The nose and initial flavour is really good but it lacks any real complexity imho and falls flat. It's certainly not smooth either. I reverted back to the "Butterscotch & Vanilla & Toast & A Generation & Cask Strength 30 Year Old Batch 01" which was far better and at a much lower price point per litre given this is only 50CL.

A must try
Opened this in my 2020 calendar and eve8from the smell I got giddy from excitement to try it after work
After getting to it....WOW this was the whiskey I've always wanted. Vanilla caramel vibes with nuttynes behind it with a follow through of a little spice.
I wish I had more. But excited to see what else there is to come

First dram/door in the Advent Calendar this year and it’s spot on to get the Christmas spirit up
Very fruity and more pepper spice focused on the first sip next to the forementioned spice range from the nose. Stuffed with rum/sherry raisin like darkness, drought and sweetness, silky peaches and apricots, dark chocolate, a tick of dry tobacco and almonds in the base. The age nobly makes itself noticed in an inimitable balance and complexity.

Liquid silk
Got a sample on the first day of their 2020 Advent Calendar. Smooth as glass, rich complex flavor as befitting its age and unknown heritage. Butterscotch. A steal for the price. Great way to start the season.
