Nantou 5 Year Old - Batch 2 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company)
Taiwan’s Nantou is a terribly exciting winery and distillery, something you lovely lot obviously agree with as Batch 1 sold out in minutes! Now, That Boutique-y Whisky Company has a new parcel of liquid to bottle especially for its 10th birthday celebrations, one that was made peated malt (imported from Scotland, of course) before being matured in an ex-bourbon cask. It's presented cask strength, a mighty 52% ABV, and with its flavour profile could be forgiven for thinking this was coastal Islay whisky.
Batch 2 is a release of 231 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Through ashy smoke comes sweet notes of apricot yoghurt and vanilla, as well as some salty seaspray.
Palate
An oily palate delivers lemon zest, baked apple, a touch of seaweed, and more of that earthy smoke.
Finish
Drying spice lingers with the coastal, smoky elements.
