Islay #3 13yo #4 TBWC

13 year old single malt from an undisclosed distillery on the Isle of Islay, independently bottled by That Boutique-y Whisky Company. The label seems familiar, mind... The LivingRoom Whisky chaps, the car with the weird doors, Bessie Williamson... Is it from a different timeline? Another universe?!

Batch 4 is a release of 1,479 bottles.

‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Powerful smoke balanced by hints of old leather and tropical fruit punch.

Palate BBQ pineapple and leafy mint, with layers of thyme honey bringing a herbaceous sweetness in to the mix.

Finish Continued peat smoke heat and a whiff of tobacco.

Nice but not outstanding
I use Laphroaig 10 year old as my benchmark for Islay malts. All the expected flavours but quite subtle. Nice dram but light on flavour and didn't stand out enough to warrant its price.

In any case, a dram for Islay adepts!
What can I say, I love Islay style whisky in just about any strength, format or origin. Speaking of origin, though undisclosed this ‘feels’ like Laphroaig to me though. In any case, a dram for Islay adepts!
