That Boutique-y Whisky Company's second batch of 'teaspooned whisky' #1, almost exclusively from a highly celebrated, top Speyside distillery. In the whisky world, famous distilleries often sell casks to blenders and bottlers having added a tiny, imperceptible fraction of whisky from another distillery. Whilst almost entirely single malt, it may no longer be labelled as such. The good news for the savvy whisky fan out there is that they tend to be exceptional value for money! All hail the spoon!
Batch 2 is a release of 409 bottles.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains and bourbons from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blended malts and blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.
Freshly dried barley, marzipan and dates. Following that, you'll find a treasure trove of baked goods - apple strudel, treacle tarts and churros & chocolate.
Sherbet lemons, Toffifee, rum-raisin ice-cream and butterscotch. A touch of sunflower seed and buttered bread.
Honey'd malt, drying spices and a flourish of orange blossom lingers.
I do not know if it's a Balvenie, but it's excellent. Complex and strong. It makes me think a little about my Macallan Edition 3 or Craigellachie 23 but better. This is not a blend but a 99.99% Single malt with 0.01% from another Go for it!
Unlike the NAS first batch, this is a powerful, interesting whisky at a good value. Recommended for fans of the single barrel 12/25. Heavy oak influence with a nice balance of Balvenie character.
Fruity, rich, and overpoweringly ester-y. This is an absolutely incredible dram from an outstanding distillery. Makes you wonder just how hard they're kicking themselves now for not being able to repatriate any of these casks.
