A cask strength straight rye whiskey here from Templeton Rye, from a series of yearly releases – this particular one is the 2020 edition. Sourced from Indiana with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, it has been bottled up at 56.5% ABV and boasts a bold, spicy flavour profile with plenty of peppery heat and cask char notes.
Ginger, toasted staves, a smidge of caramelised nuts, cassia.
Peppercorn and chilli flakes, with oily pine and charred oak in support. Sweetness of toasted sugar sits under the surface.
Toffee, coffee bean, and caraway.
