A cracking single barrel release from Templeton, aged for a full decade in new American oak casks that have been heavily charred for maximum impact. Bottled at a robust 52% ABV (that’s 104 proof for our American pals), this is a bold and beautifully balanced rye that wears its age and spice with pride. An ultra-limited expression made for serious rye fans and celebratory pours.
Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose
Chocolate shavings and vanilla cream leap out first, followed by buttery toasted oak. Hints of green apple brightness and soft apricot round it out.
Palate
Dark, charry oak takes the lead, wrapped in silky honey and floral tones. That signature rye spice builds with confidence but never overwhelms.
Finish
Long, clean, and satisfyingly rich, with lingering butterscotch and a creamy sweetness that doesn’t rush off.
Overall
A silky-smooth sipper with spice and structure – an indulgent rye that proves age and oak can play very nicely indeed.
