Teeling Single Malt Bottling Note

The eagerly anticipated Teeling Single Malt Irish Whiskey, made with 100% malt whiskeys. A selection of five wine-cask-finished-whiskeys were used for this release, including Sherry, Port, Madeira, White Burgundy and Cabernet Sauvignon. Exciting, delicious stuff from the Teeling chaps in Dublin.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Intense white grape juiciness on the nose, joined by fresh malt and Rolos, developing into white chocolate the longer it's in the glass.

Palate: An elegant expression, this. Well placed fruit, backed up with cinnamon and white pepper. A touch of dried flower petals along the way. Strawberries?

Finish: Definitely strawberries, with fresh double cream too! Ace.

Teeling Single Malt Reviews

Satisfying and approachable

I happened to be gifted a bottle of this lovely whiskey having previously tasted just the Teeling Small Batch which incidentally I was not at all a fan of. Teeling's single malt however is a different story. A very refined and classy Irish single malt offering great complexity. The wine cask influence is very prevalent - although I do not see it noted here I get allot of the fresh and vibrant zesty notes of a Chardonnay or a Sauvignon Blanc. Pear drops, strawberries and honey all come to mind. For the price you cannot fail here. Yes it is another NAS Irish whiskey but at 46% and non-chill filtered kudos have to go to Teeling here for producing a very satisfying and approachable dram

Wow

Tried first the Teeling Small Batch, this Single Malt is hands down the winner. Also better than Hyde Rum cask (which is exceptional) and also the Bushmills 10 year old single Malt. This is the best Irish whiskey I have ever tried.

2016 Advent Calendar Notes

This is a lovely fruity and surprising Irish whiskey that does benefit from time to open up a bit. I found the nose went from citrus astringent to mellow sweetness, the palate is both fruity and spicy at once and I agree with the note of strawberry which lingers into the finish and on the tongue. A keeper, another dessert whiskey for the cabinet.

Strawberry indeed.

That is definitely an Irish whisky but not boring as could be a mere Jameson. Besides I'm quite happy that for once I was fully able to find the same tastes as MoM so I confirm, you need to focus but yes there is a hint of strawberry on the palate and when you swallow, after 2 seconds you find the strawberry and indeed the cream. A nice dram.

Nectar

I have drunk many whiskies in my time 10 year old 12,14,even the royal salute but Teeling has got me hooked line and sinker I don't think I will ever leave it

Just what I needed

I made the switch over to whiskey from rum recently, after trying a whiskey called Writer's Tears at Garryowen's Pub in Gettysburg, PA (the best Irish pub in America). It was like nothing I've ever had. I purchased my first bottle of bourbon whiskey at a cost of $36 from a NY distillery and did not like it. I knew of Teelings and Tyconnell and decided to do a little research. I liked what I had read about Teeling's Single Malt so I bought it at $66 USD. It was exactly what I had in mind. I knew that if I wanted a whiskey of good quality, I needed to get it from the country that made it famous. Irish Wiskey and Kentucky bourbon whiskey are so different. I just hope I can hang on to this expensive bottle for longer than the week, haha.

Strawberries is perfect discription

Like sliced strawberries left to masseratte in sugar & balsamic viniger then served with Elmlea Double Cream, that oily mouth feel makes u almost wanna chew mmmm.... No wonder this has gone up a fiver since its release a short while ago.
Marked against Redbreast 12 (yes I kno that its pot stilled but I think the closest 1 taste/price wise) its -
Less smooth & slighy spicier.
Less sweet bailies cream but more cornflakes with honey.
Overall its way more intresting once u get past initial kick.
This is 1 I will revisit b4 the original batch runs out.

Sophisticated and fun

Some people complain that Irish whiskies, while usually smoother than their Scottish counterparts, are not as complex and even "boring" (gasp!)

Those people need to try this bad boy - there's plenty going on here.

Non-chill filtered. Five different cask varieties. No wonder it won awards.

Okay

It's good, but nothing to write home about.

I wouldn't buy a bottle for 50 EUR, too expensive for what it is.

Nose, taste and finish are common. I will forget this whiskey tomorrow.

A lovely whiskey

We first tried this at the new Teelings Distillery in Dublin a few weeks ago...right after meeting John Teeling, the distillery owner's father. A little different than the pot stills we came to know and love while in Ireland, but among the best Irish we can find here in the U.S. And if you haven't tried the Teelings 21 Silver Edition, find it; pricey but oh, so fantastic. Can't wait to visit Teelings again on our next trip to the Emerald Isle.

Great Whiskey!

This is a great whiskey. Very fruity notes and a lovely smooth finish. If you enjoy this then I would recommend Green Spot. Similar flavours but with a smooth finish (and cheaper!)

Moreish & juicy Irish malt

Another impressive offering from Teeling & look forward to the whisky from its new Dublin home when it is ready. This is a cross between The best offerings of Bushmills & redbreast with its juicy black fruit and aromatic spice & chewy yet mellow oak.You can really taste the wine cask elements here with notes of fig rolls, cherry liquorice sticks & buttery old fashioned toffee.A dram of this was not enough! The whisky flaneur
