The second installment of Teeling's Rising Reserve series is a 21-year-old Irish single malt that spent its first 18 years maturing in bourbon barrels, before finishing in marsala wine casks. Three years finishing in the Sicilian fortified wine casks allowed plenty of time for the whiskey to adopt distinctive notes of dark fruit and spice, making for an impressive limited edition from the Dublin distillery.
Sweet, grilled stone fruits, spiced orchard fruits, and elegant vanilla pods are backed by toasted marzipan, marmalade, and fragrant tobacco.
Buttery, creamy caramel, poached fruit, dusted with brown sugar and spice. Woody notes gather beneath, with rich oak and cinnamon bark.
Floral honey and warming spices linger, with dark sugar and candied orange.
WOW! What a Whiskey. I don't usually pay more than about Fifty Pound for a bottle of whiskey. But, I decided to treat myself for Christmas, as this was on offer. However, this was still more than double my usual budget. I have always wondered if these expensive Whiskies are worth the extra money. So, was it worth it? This whiskey is so smooth, no harshness here, just full of fruity flavour from it's time spent finishing in Marsala wine casks. This whiskey is delicious.

Bought this in Ireland after the bartender at Teeling distillery turned us in to this. No burn just good flavor.
