The nose is very spirity with a smoky marmalade note and hints of honeycomb sweetness with rubbed petals. Notes of dried pine emerge. The palate is very full and robust as one would imagine. The fruits of many and of exotic persuasion. There are some notes of melted honey and leather with cigar box notes. The finish is long and very warming.
Back in 1998 or 1998 I asked a work colleague visiting from the UK to bring me a "real" bottle of Scotch, one I couldn't find in the US. This exact package is the one he chose to bring over on his flight. Our project was completed, the bottle was opened and used in celebration and, with about half remaining, I saved it for special occasions. Just last winter I shared the last ounce between 5 friends, each with a sip or two. It still was great to me. I wish I knew more about "tasting notes" or writing about what it was like - at full strength it definitely burned, but mixed with a tiny bit of water thought it was awesome.
